On World Environment Day on 5 June 2024, Hon’ble Prime Minister launched a campaign #एक_पेड़_माँ_के_नाम (#Plant4Mother) by planting a sapling of Peepal tree in New Delhi. In his message on the occasion, Prime Minister called on everyone in India and across the world to join this movement. In India, the campaign envisages plantation of 800 million trees by September 2024 and 1.4 billion trees by March 2025 following a ‘whole of Government’ and ‘whole of society’ approach. n.

Drawing a parallel between the nurturing of Nature by Mother Earth and the nurturing of human lives by our mothers, Prime Minister exhorted people across the world to plant a tree as a mark of love, respect and honour for their own Mother and to also take a pledge for protecting trees and Mother Earth.

Embassy in association with the Ministry of Environment and Forest Resources of Togo is also undertaking a tree plantation drive. In this context, the Embassy is pleased to announce a ‘Painting Competition’ as part of Plant4Mother Campaign to spread awareness about Mother Nature and portraying ways to mitigate Land Degradation as also to promote biodiversity. The top three winners will be awarded along with certificate of participation during the tree plantation drive. Participants are requested to send their entries along with their name, phone number and email ID at admn1.lome@mea.gov.in by 17 July 2024.
