As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, the Indian Navy Ship “INS Tarkash”, led by Captain Abraham Samuel, made a Port Call to Lomé from 1-4 September 2022.

 The Ship was received warmly by the Commanding Officer of the Togolese Naval Base along with Embassy officials and Indian diaspora.

The programme included a Yoga session with the Togolese Navy personnel. A medical camp was also organized at a medical centre of Armed Forces in association with Indian pharma company, Strides Pharma Science Limited, in terms of general health check-up and donation of some essential medicines by both Strides and INS Tarkash team.

During the Port Call, various professional exchanges such as diving operations, VBSS procedures, harbour training, casualty evacuation lecture were undertaken by INS Tarkash team with Togolese Navy personnel.

On September 3, the members of Indian community in Togo and friends of India visited the Ship in batches. They were given guided tour of the Ship. A welcome reception jointly organized by the Embassy and Indian diaspora was held at Hotel 2 Fevrier. The programme included performances by diaspora children and the Navy Band.

The Port Call concluded with a Maritime Partnership Exercise (PASSEX) with Togolese Navy on 4 September 2022.
